I recently paddled on the Shenandoah River near Bentonville, Virginia. Much to the dismay of my canoe partner I kept getting distracted from my paddling duties.

I spotted wildflowers all along the river! I did not have my camera but I still want to share the pure joy of spotting a native plant in its element, the wildernes!

Below, I am posting photos I took at a nursery of some of the plant species I spotted in bloom along the Shenandoah River August 8/25/2012.

Lobelia siphilitica
Vernonia noveboracensis
Lobelia cardinalis
