Join the nationwide movement to cultivate nature on our properties to conserve biodiversity and our water sources. Together, we can restore essential habitat for endangered wildlife (thereby reducing pests like aphids and mosquitoes) and manage storm water to replenish our drinking water.
But how? Enter the ecological garden designers, like myself, to assist homeowners in transforming their outdoor spaces into sustainable, ecologically balanced and healthy environments.
I am currently accepting new clients in Great Falls and neighboring areas in Northern Virginia.
I provide in-person consults on-site to assist in creating a habitat garden with native plants. A habitat garden is a cultivated space dedicated to conserving biodiversity. I can also advise on naturalization projects enhancing natural areas such as existing tree groves or creek sides with native plants. Please contact me at cultivatenature@gmail.com for details.
Native plants can enhance any existing space or create a new habitat.
I can assist in integrating native plants into:
- Semi-formal flower gardens
- Vegetable gardens
- Container gardens
- Wild areas
- Small patios
- Large yards
During the on-site visit I will a) conduct an ecological assessment of the site, b) listen to the goals and answer questions and c) provide initial suggestions and guidance for plant selections and design ideas. I recommend any existing gardener or landscaper currently working on the property to join the consultation.
Within the one week of the visit, via email, I will send a final product which includes a list of recommended plants, design ideas and links to appropriate resources.
Consultations do not include email consultations or installation.
Before any consultation I encourage property owners to take particular notice to the shade, slope, water and grazing by wildlife in the areas of interest.
